"Photography is my diary. I photograph by instinct, moved by the energy of the subject and the situations in which I find myself... I hope to find myself all over the world."
-Cara Tompkins
Artist Bio:
Cara Tompkins is a Venice, CA artist whose photographs reflect a sense of awe in the infinite beauty that surrounds us, through observations of light, line, color and texture; the balance of opposites; and the simultaneous eternity and fragility of time. Cara recognizes the sacred relationship between photographer and subject, whether that subject is a person, a flower or a musical instrument, and her images evoke a sense of vulnerability and trusted intimacy.
Her photograph of downtown San Diego as seen through a sculpture was a finalist in San Diego Magazine’s 2009 photo contest. Other exhibitions include The Monte Cristo nightclub’s art show and sale, Daydream Republic Gallery’s art market, LACDA Gallery’s group show, and Picture This Gallery’s fundraiser for Haiti and Chile group show.
