"Like most living things, I am attracted to light. Each of my paintings returns to a moment when light caught my eye and made me stop and stare. Light's ability to enrich ordinary things is a constant source of motivation." -Caroline Jasper
Artist Bio:
Contemporary Impressionist Caroline Jasper’s paintings are “always about the light," says the artist. Red is her trademark. Each of her colorful landscape and water scenes begins on red ground, which serves to invigorate visual interaction against loosely applied color marks. Each work starts on a hot-red canvas, the axis for impact dynamics. Her have more to do with expressing visual and expressive interpretation of light than with actual subject. At close range of the canvas subjects lose identity. Brushstrokes, denoting separate abstract color blocks, juxtapose bits of unpainted red ground generating both literal and psychological optical effects.
Trees edged with warm sun colors brighten against cool morning haze.
Early light beautifies a tree sheltered roadway.
